Edmund London & Associates is very involved in the design of environments for people with dementia. We have learned that a sensitively designed facility, together with programmed activities and staffing patterns, can help ease the pain and confusion of dementia and aid the resident in retaining dignity and some sense of control. Our projects for people with early stages of dementia in an assisted living setting include the 32-bed unit at the Grand Traverse Medical Care Facility in Traverse City, Michigan. Projects for people with later stages of dementia in a nursing home setting include an 18-bed unit for the Martin Luther Memorial Home in Holt, Michigan, and the 36-bed unit addition to the Houghton County Medical Care Facility in Hancock, Michigan. The 120-bed Towsley Village provides a continuum of care for residents suffering from early to late stages of dementia.
